A man identified as Hassan, who had previously made allegations against an unnamed Nigerian senator, has now publicly identified the politician as Senator Shehu Buba Umar.

Hassan further alleged that one of the individuals was at some point an aide to Senator Buba at the National Assembly.
These are serious claims. However, they remain allegations made by Hassan, and AfroView TV has not independently verified the identity of the people mentioned, the alleged training, or the circumstances surrounding the claims.
Senator Buba responds
Senator Buba has now responded publicly.
In an interview published by Premium Times on September 3, the senator addressed his relationship with Hassan and rejected the suggestion that the relationship demonstrated support for banditry.
Buba said Hassan had been introduced to him as an orphan who wanted to continue his education.
According to the senator, he helped Hassan by connecting him with a cleric, Musa Asadussunnah, who helped secure admission for him into Islamic and conventional schools.
Buba also said he gave Hassan a bicycle to make it easier for him to travel to school.
The senator said Hassan later told him that he wanted to leave school and go into the car dealership business.
Buba said he opposed the decision and advised him to complete his education.
According to the senator's account, Hassan eventually left school despite his advice.
That account is significant because the latest allegations are being made by a person who says he had a personal relationship with the senator.
However, a personal relationship by itself does not establish whether any of the other allegations made by Hassan are true or false.
