Cameroon Celebrates Historic WAFCON Triumph as Nigeria Faces Coaching Shake-Up

Cameroon has made history by winning its first Women's Africa Cup of Nations title, defeating Malawi 3–0 in the final in Rabat.

The victory puts Cameroon among the small group of nations to have won the women's continental championship.

The achievement is particularly significant because Cameroon was not considered one of the tournament's strongest favourites before the competition.

The Indomitable Lionesses produced an impressive campaign, overcoming heavyweight opponents on their way to the final.

Malawi also made history by reaching the final in its first appearance at the tournament and securing qualification for the Women's World Cup.

For Nigeria, however, the tournament ended in disappointment.

The Super Falcons failed to reach the semifinals and consequently missed out on World Cup qualification.

The poor performance has already resulted in a coaching shake-up, with the Nigeria Football Federation moving to change the team's technical leadership.

Cameroon's historic victory therefore marks a major shift in African women's football, while Nigeria faces the task of rebuilding one of the continent's most successful women's teams.
