Chelsea Won 3–2… But Their Goalkeeper Was Busy Doing Charity!

Chelsea have started the Xabi Alonso era with three points.

But judging from Monday night’s madness, somebody needs to tell their goalkeeper that winning is supposed to be easier than this! 😂

The Blues survived a chaotic West London derby to beat Fulham 3–2 at Craven Cottage, with João Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer all getting on the scoresheet.

And Chelsea wasted absolutely no time.

After just 31 seconds, Cole Palmer found João Pedro, who calmly lifted the ball over Bernd Leno to give Chelsea a dream start.

Fulham fans had barely settled into their seats before Chelsea were already saying:

“Good morning, we came for your three points.” 😂

But Fulham refused to cooperate.

Josh King equalised in the first half, with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez coming under criticism for his role in the goal.

Then Morgan Rogers, making his competitive Chelsea debut, restored the visitors' lead before half-time.

Chelsea were beginning to look comfortable.

Then Palmer decided to join the party.

João Pedro returned the favour, setting up Palmer for Chelsea's third shortly after the break.

3–1. Game over?

Chelsea supporters thought so.

Fulham apparently did not receive the memo. 😂

Gonzalo García pulled one back for Fulham, setting up a nervous final period.

And suddenly Chelsea were defending like a man who has borrowed money from three different people and all of them have arrived at his house. 😂

Fulham pushed for an equaliser, but Chelsea held on for the victory.

The result gives Alonso a winning start to his Premier League reign, while Chelsea's attacking trio of Palmer, João Pedro and Rogers immediately showed plenty of promise.

But there is one obvious question for Alonso:

Can Chelsea's defence and goalkeeping keep up with that attack?

Because if Palmer, João Pedro and Rogers keep scoring while the goalkeeper keeps giving opponents invitations, Chelsea fans may need blood-pressure tablets this season. 😂

Final Verdict

Chelsea: 3 goals, 3 points, plenty of excitement.
Fulham: Almost spoiled the party.
Robert Sánchez: Brother, please! 😂
Xabi Alonso: First Premier League game, first win.

Chelsea got the job done.

But next time, please collect your three points without turning the match into Nollywood Season 7. 😂⚽
