Osun Decides 2026: Adeleke Leads as INEC Nears Final Results

By Afroview TV

The people of Osun State went to the polls on Saturday, August 15, 2026, to decide who will govern the state for the next four years, in an election that has attracted intense political attention across Nigeria.

Voting has ended across the state, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues the electronic uploading and collation of results from polling units.

As of the latest update, INEC had uploaded 3,292 of the 3,763 expected polling-unit results, representing 87.48 per cent of the results. Collation is therefore approaching its final stage.

Adeleke Leads in Results Uploaded So Far

Results available on the INEC Result Viewing Portal indicate that incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, contesting on the Accord Party platform, is leading the results uploaded so far.

APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji is currently in second position, while ADC candidate Najeem Salaam is further behind based on the results currently available.

However, these figures should not be treated as the final election result until INEC completes the collation and makes the official declaration.

Election Generally Peaceful, But Not Without Problems

The election was largely peaceful in many parts of Osun State, with voters turning out to cast their ballots.

Election observers, however, reported several challenges, including BVAS difficulties, delays, vote buying and isolated incidents of disruption and thuggery.

There was also a reported incident involving ADC candidate Najeem Salaam, who was said to have escaped an alleged assassination attempt in Ejigbo. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain a matter of concern.

The Battle Is Not Over Until INEC Speaks

For now, political supporters on all sides are watching the remaining results.

With more than 87 per cent of polling-unit results already uploaded, attention is increasingly shifting from the polling stations to the collation centres, where the final figures will determine who emerges as the next governor of Osun State.

INEC's electronic Result Viewing Portal is allowing members of the public to follow uploaded polling-unit results as the process continues.

For the people of Osun, however, the most important question remains simple:

Who will be sitting in the Governor's Office when the political dust finally settles?

The answer will come only when INEC completes the collation and formally declares the winner.

Afroview TV will continue to monitor the results and bring you verified updates as they emerge.
